How To Wash Egyptian Cotton Bedding

Thanks to its extra-long fibers, Egyptian Cotton is greatly softened when washed. Therefore, the sheets will only feel better against your skin as time passes. Think of it like an expensive whisky, wine or cheese!

You should avoid putting any other items into the washing machine along with Egyptian Cotton bedding. As a dryer moves fast and furious, it is all too easy for a stray button, zip, or clasp to cause noticeable harm to the material. Be sure not to mix your sheets with darker colored items. A prominent characteristic of Egyptian Cotton is its great absorbency, and that is also true with regard to unwanted dyes.

It is recommended that you use a low water temperature for the cycle in order to prevent shrinking of the Egyptian Cotton fibers, and therefore the sheet as a whole. Our personal recommendation is 40°C. For bedding sets with embroidery we recommend 30°C. A gentle wash cycle is your best option.

Whenever possible, we recommend using mild detergent rather than chlorine bleach. Even though it can keep your laundry a brilliant white, it can also be highly corrosive and damaging to Egyptian Cotton. Prior to placing the sheets in the washing machine, try to remove any obvious stains by hand. An extra rinse cycle might be worthwhile to ensure that all the detergent has been rinsed out.

How To Dry Egyptian Cotton Bedding

We always recommend air drying Egyptian Cotton bedding on a clothesline. With a correct hang, the creases will be minimized, and ironing will take less time. Air drying will also preserve the cotton's fresh scent.

If you must tumble dry your Egyptian Cotton bedding, make sure that you use a relatively low heat. After the dryer cycle has ended, remove the sheets from the dryer as soon as possible and fold them. This will minimize the chances of creases forming.

Iron the sheets whilst they are still slightly damp with the iron set to a low heat.

Egyptian cotton bedding provides a luxurious feel and is made from a high-quality material. This stunning quality will last for many years when properly cared for.
